plan on health
a predictable future
Predictability. It's not a word we normally associate with dental health. But if you think about it for a moment, it really is the goal of dental health - of health in general. The favoured state of health at any moment is stable health, which can lead to a more predictable future. The alternative is that we hope we stay healthy, knowing there are existing factors that may result in "disease."
the keys to stable health
The keys to stable health are knowledge and planning. When we eat right and exercise - things we have come to understand are beneficial to our cardiovascular and other systems - we are applying knowledge to maintain a state of health. At the same time, we are using this knowledge to plan and predict the level of our health in the future.
knowledge
Just like our hearts and lungs, our teeth are a part of an intricate and wonderful system that, by design, tends toward stable health and optimum function. External factors, disease, imperfect care and even heredity can interrupt this natural balance or equilibrium. And, just like the health of our hearts and lungs, the key to maintaining or recovering stable dental health lies in knowledge.
planning
Did you know that the word "doctor" comes from the Latin docere meaning to show or teach? This notion is at the core of our practice philosophy. As opposed to just "fixing" problems as they arise, we seek to discover and help you understand the underlying cause of your dental issues. Together with you, we discover the distinct path toward stable oral health. With this knowledge, you're better prepared to make the right decisions for you at any given time.
it shows
In much the same that stable overall health radiates outwardly in our skin, hair and eyes, stable oral health radiates in our smile. When you are building on a foundation of stable health - preventing as opposed to reacting to problems - cosmetic results are going simply going to last longer.
